Yikes!
Large Crater + Severe Road Damage
Escaping water eroded the ground beneath and alongside the roadway, leaving crews with both a water-main repair and a significant road-rebuilding project.
What Happened
The main erupted during the evening of July 30. Water escaped beneath the road, creating a crater and washing away or destabilizing a substantial section of pavement and supporting ground.
Water Service
Some nearby properties experienced temporarily reduced pressure or water flow while the break was isolated. The Water Authority later reported that service was being restored and no boil water advisory had been issued.
Road Repairs
Water Authority and Highway Department crews worked to protect the repaired pipe, refill the excavation and rebuild the damaged roadway. Officials initially expected the work to require several days.
