Melodies of Joy: Celebrating Chanukah with Songs of Light and Hope in Clifton Park

Celebrating Chanukah with Music and Community In Clifton Park, New York, the Saratoga Jewish Community Arts, generously supported by a grant from the Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York and sponsorships from Temple Sinai of Saratoga Springs and Congregation Beth Shalom of Clifton Park, is set to host “Songs of Light and Hope: A Chanukah Concert and Sing-along.” This festive event, celebrating the Festival of Lights, will take place at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9 at Congregation Beth Shalom, located at 688 Clifton Park Center Rd.

An Evening of Joyous Song and Fellowship The concert promises an uplifting and joyous evening, led by the musical talents of Rabbi Jonathan Kligler on guitar, Rabbi Zoe Zak on accordion and keyboard, and Robert Bard on stand-up bass. The event is designed to bring the community together in a harmonious celebration, with Rabbi Kligler, known for his engaging and participatory style, encouraging attendees to join in the singing.

Rabbi Jonathan Kligler: A Musical Beacon Rabbi Kligler, who has been inspired by folk legend Pete Seeger, is renowned for his ability to involve audiences in communal singing. His musical career is highlighted by a variety of recordings that resonate with themes of love, hope, courage, and spiritual celebrations. Having recently retired from Kehillat Lev Shalem in Woodstock, NY, Rabbi Kligler continues to share his passion for music and community.

Robert Bard: A Journey Through Music Bassist Robert Bard’s musical career has been diverse and acclaimed, starting from the streets and clubs of New York City to earning eight Emmy nominations during his tenure at CBS-TV. Now based in New Paltz, NY, Bard continues to perform with various ensembles and runs Skytop Sound, a production and recording company.

Rabbi Zoe B. Zak: Melding Music and Spirituality Rabbi Zoe B. Zak, serving as the spiritual leader of Temple Israel of Catskill since 2012, brings a rich musical background to her rabbinate. As a skilled pianist, accordionist, and vocalist, Rabbi Zak excels in a vast array of musical styles and has contributed to numerous recordings. Her current project, The Peace Ensemble, focuses on spreading peace through music.
