This European beech tree is has been here in Clifton Park longer than anyone else!
At Riverview Orchards stands an incredible 211 year old European beech tree named Ruth.
This stout giant, with its elephant foot trunk and deep red leaves, has been watching over the Mohawk River since about 1815.

Isabel Prescott, the 82 year old owner of Riverview Orchard, has known and loved this tree her entire life.
Last month the Town of Clifton Park officially named this beauty a Tree of Distinction and presented Isabel with a plaque during the Clifton Park Arbor Day celebration. They also honored Ruth and planted a new white oak to remember Clifton Park’s Revolutionary War veterans.
